South Korean drug convict deported

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A South Korean man, who fled to Manila after being sentenced to a three-year prison term for a drug offense, was deported yesterday.

Eun Sun Woo was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in Malate, Manila Tuesday after he was seen leaving a casino.

PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Eun was convicted by a Korean court in 2009 and sentenced to serve three years in the Korean Correctional Service in Gonju.

Eun admitted he violated Philippine immigration laws but denied doing anything wrong in South Korea. He reportedly tried to bribe PDEA agents, thinking they were immigration officers, the PDEA said in its report.
