Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently arrested two Bangladeshi men for allegedly extorting money from a fellow citizen.

Nabbed during an entrapment were Mohiddin Ahmed Swapan and Mohamed Wasim, both residents of 946 San Andres street in Malate, Manila.

Auralyn Pascual, head of the NBI-Violence Against Women and Children Division, said Anwar Hossain, a Bangladeshi businessman, complained that the suspects had been harassing him.

The complainant said he supplied the suspects with assorted garments amounting to P749,486.

The suspects gave Hossain a check for P200,000 as initial payment but the check bounced.

When he informed the suspects of the bounced check, the latter allegedly threatened to kill him and demanded P200,000 from him.

Charges of robbery have been filed against the suspects with the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
