MANILA, Philippines - Several streets in Manila will be closed to traffic today for activities to commemorate the country’s 115th Independence Day, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.

In a traffic advisory, the MMDA said parts of Liwasang Bonifacio have already been closed as of 5 p.m. yesterday.

The MMDA also announced that since today is a holiday, the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, or the number coding scheme, is automatically suspended across Metro Manila.

Also closed to traffic as of yesterday afternoon are Postal Road, Muelle del Rio and Magallanes Drive Extension from Jones Bridge to McArthur Bridge.

To be closed starting at 6 a.m. today are Dasmariñas/Plaza Sta. Cruz (southbound), Escolta/Plaza Sta. Cruz (southbound), McArthur Bridge (southbound), Jones Bridge (northbound) as well as Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw street.

Motorists coming from the Jones flyover intending to pass through Magallanes Drive Extension are advised to go straight to the Jones Bridge/Quintin Paredes to their destination.

All motorists coming from Rizal Avenue intending to use the southbound lane of McArthur Bridge should take Dasmariñas street, turn left on Juan Luna street, left on Plaza Cervantes and right on Jones Bridge to their destination.

Meanwhile, all provincial buses coming from Laguna and Cavite passing through Taft Avenue will have to make a right turn at UN Avenue and another right on San Marcelino street to get to Lawton/Park N Ride.
