Bus firm loses P.5 M in heist

MANILA, Philippines - A bus lost P500,000 of its earnings when it was robbed by two of its passengers in Novaliches, Quezon City Monday afternoon.
Nina Jeanette Macam, the teller of Don Mariano Transit Corp. who was in the bus, told police the robbery happened when they were already on their way to their bus terminal to remit the money.
Macam, who reported the incident to Quezon City Police District Station 4, added that while the bus was moving along Quirino Highway in Barangay Sta. Monica at past 3 p.m., two unidentified men armed with guns took the money from her.
PO3 Fernando Tanghay said the robbers also disarmed the security guard who escorted Macam on the bus.
