Alleged carjacker arrested outside QC bar

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An alleged member of a carjacking group was arrested as he was about to ride a stolen car outside a bar along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City Friday night.

Gil Emerenciana, 49, was apprehended by Manila police officers, led by Inspector Edward Samonte, just as he stepped out of the Pegasus Club and was about to ride a red Isuzu Crosswind.

Samonte said he and his men had been staked out in front of the club for the past several weeks after receiving information that the Crosswind (XDE-377), which was stolen on Oct. 21, 2012 while it was parked in Harbor Square at the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex, was seen in the area.

Emerenciana is currently detained at the MPD pending inquest proceedings.
