MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor-elect Joseph Estrada advised yesterday outgoing Mayor Alfredo Lim to just enjoy his vacation.
Estrada issued the advice to Lim in reaction to the latter’s statement that he is willing to help Estrada in his effort to rehabilitate Manila.
“He better enjoy his vacation. I don’t need his help because I have already asked the help of my ‘super economic’ advisers who would help me for free in rehabilitating Manila,†he said.
Estrada said Lim failed Manilans during his stint as mayor as the city has become a capital of crimes like car thefts and kidnappings wherein police officers themselves are involved.
Estrada, who was ousted as president in 2001, said he has asked his former Cabinet members Jose Pardo, Philip Medalla, Leonor Briones and Benjamin Diokno to help him rehabilitate Manila.
Estrada said that Manila is now faced with serious problems such as being P4 billion in debt and unpaid electricity bills totaling P600 million.
“All these happened under the watch of Lim,†Estrada said.
