2 kill neighbor as payback

MANILA, Philippines - A man and his son were arrested in Quezon City Monday night for allegedly beating up and killing a neighbor who beat up the son last week.

Silverio Tiston, 59, and his son Alex, 37, of Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, were tagged in the killing of Rodolfo Tulda, 52, Police Officer 2 Gilmer Marinas said.

Tulda and a companion, Burlas Edilfonso, were on their way home when the suspects blocked their path. A witness said Alex suddenly choked Tulda then engaged him in a fistfight.

Silverio allegedly repeatedly stabbed the victim, according to the witness.

Marinas said the suspects reportedly wanted to get even with the victim since Tulda and several companions beat up Alex last week.

Alex was beaten up after being accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl in their neighborhood. He denied doing it.

He also claimed the victim and his companion were the ones who were chasing him and what he did was an act of self-defense.
