P4-M pirated DVDs seized at Makati mall

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least P4 million worth of pirated digital video discs (DVDs) were seized yesterday afternoon during a raid on stalls in Makati Cinema Square.

According to Superintendent Jaime Santos, head of the police team deputized by the Optical Media Group, the raid was conducted by combined personnel of the Makati Police and the OMG at past 1 p.m.

OMG chairman actor Ronnie Ricketts himself led the raid, Santos said.

“The raid was done following a complaint made by the nearby Don Bosco (Technical Institute) about the pornographic material being sold at the stalls,” he added.

Santos said they seized 32 sacks of DVDs, which contained pirated copies of films, music and pornographic materials. The vendors fled as soon as the raiding team arrived.

Some of the pirated DVDs were stashed in the mall’s restrooms, he added.
