MANILA, Philippines - Re-electionists Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel “Nene†Aguilar and his Vice Mayor Luis Bustamante were proclaimed winners by the city’s board of canvassers (BOC) Tuesday night.
Aguilar, who ran unopposed, got 153,503 votes, according to Ma. Anne Gonzales, chairman of the BOC.
The mayor, now in his last term, has been credited for his programs on free hospitalization, free public education from elementary to college, and environmental protection.
Rep. Mark Villar of the lone district of Las Piñas was also re-elected with 148,805 votes.
Elected councilors in district one were Filemon Aguilar Jr., Mark Anthony Santos, Oca Peña, Buenaventura Quilatan, Rex Riguera, and Zardi Melito Abellera.
In district two, the elected councilors were Carlo Aguilar, Henry Medina, Ruben Ramos, Albert Francis Hernandez, Leopoldo Benedicto, and Boni Riguera.
