17 hurt as bus falls over in QC

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Seventeen persons, including the driver, were injured after a speeding bus lost control and fell on its side along Elliptical Road in front of the Quezon City hall Sunday night.

Those who were hurt were in the Cemtrans bus (TYK-508) and were treated at the East Avenue Medical Center following the accident at around 11 p.m., Senior Police Officer 4 Henry Se said.

He added that the bus driver, Miguelito Balingit, was also hurt in the incident but is currently detained at Camp Karingal after he was treated.

Balingit faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries.

The bus was cruising along East Avenue headed to Elliptical Road and Se believes that Balingit was driving fast.

When the bus took a right turn on Elliptical Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle, Se said. The bus spun out of control then flipped on its left side in front of the city hall.
