Bet for vice mayor hurt in car crash

MANILA, Philippines - A candidate for vice mayor of Pampanga was injured after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) he was riding crashed into the wall of a house in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Raul Macalino, who is running for vice mayor of Lubao, and his staff Albert Parungao suffered bruises.

PO2 Henry Sese said the accident occurred at past midnight in Barangay Bahay Toro.

Parungao was reportedly driving the Mitsubishi Montero but was momentarily alternated by Macalino.

The SUV sideswiped a concrete barrier damaging its front wheel, causing Macalino to lose control of the steering wheel.

The vehicle rammed the wall of an apartment unit.

A rescue team responded but the two decided not to be brought to the hospital.

Macalino promised to pay for the repair of the damaged apartment.
