Alleged drug gang hitman falls

MANILA, Philippines - A suspected hitman of a drug syndicate operating in Taguig City was arrested Saturday.

Lenrev Ginez, 21, of Barangay Ususan, has a standing arrest warrant for murder issued by a Makati court, said city police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Asis.

Police officers confiscated a .45 caliber pistol, a fragmentation grenade and two sachets of shabu from Ginez, who was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, violation of the election gun ban and illegal drug possession.

Last Feb. 15, Taguig police officers and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents arrested 14 alleged members of the drug ring, including a former policeman, in a raid in Barangay Ususan.
