Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A former Nueva Vizcaya town mayor told police yesterday he lost P350,000 in cash and valuables after burglars who broke into his house in Quezon City.

Benjamin Cuarisma, the former mayor of Banban town, told police he had been away since Monday, helping his mother, Luisa, campaign for a seat in the House of Representatives. He said he left his house, located in a gated compound in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion, locked but unattended.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 10, said a neighbor’s helper noticed at around 10 a.m. Thursday that the back door of Cuarisma’s house was open.
