Another Maguindanao massacre suspect arrested
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City court handling the multiple murder case in connection with the 2009 Maguindanao massacre has been informed of the arrest of another suspect in Midsayap, North Cotabato earlier this week.
In returning an arrest warrant to the Regional Trial Court Branch 221, Superintendent Godfrey Convento told Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes that Kudza Uguia Masukat was arrested by authorities in Barangay Tugal Monday morning.
Convento said a team deployed in the area intercepted Masukat, who was reportedly on his way to Datu Piang town in Maguindanao. He said an informant helped them identify the suspect.
Masukat, also known as Datu Teng Ibrahim and Mustapha Ibrahim, has a monetary reward of P250,000. He was the 106th suspect nabbed for the massacre, which claimed the lives of 58 people, including 32 media practitioners.
Masukat is currently detained in Cotabato City pending the issuance of a commitment order for his transfer to the Quezon City Jail Annex in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City. – Janvic Mateo, Cecille Suerte Felipe
