P.2-M property goes up in smoke

MANILA, Philippines - At least P200,000 worth of property went up in smoke when a fire of unknown origin hit a two-story apartment in Marikina City Tuesday night.

No one was reported hurt in the fire.

Arson investigator Senior Fire Officer 1 Grenmar de la Torre said the blaze broke out in an apartment located along E. Rodriguez street in Barangay Concepcion 1 at 10:42 p.m.

Three children were watching television on the second floor of the house when they saw smoke billowing out from the ceiling.

The timely arrival of firemen prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent houses. The fire was declared under control in less than an hour.
