Fire hits 40th floor of Rufino Tower

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  A fire of still unknown origin gutted the 40th floor of the 41-floor Rufino Tower building at the corner of Ayala Avenue and Rufino street in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City before dawn yesterday.

City fire marshal Ric Perdigon said the blaze allegedly started at past 3 a.m. in Rockwell Automation Philippines’ server room on the 40th floor. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Perdigon said firefighters put out the fire, which reached the first alarm, about one and a half hours later.

Investigators estimated the damage left by the fire at about P300,000.
