24 hurt as bus hits MRT post

MANILA, Philippines -  At least 24 persons were slightly injured after a San Jose del Monte, Bulacan-bound passenger bus they were riding slammed into a concrete post of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) line along EDSA in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday afternoon.

According to the Metrobase of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Mayamy bus (PWX-758) hit the post at past 2 p.m., snarling traffic on the northbound lane of the highway.

The MMDA said those injured were rushed for emergency treatment at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (formerly the Labor Hospital) along C-5 Road.

The damaged bus was still on EDSA as of 4 p.m. yesterday, the MMDA said. The cause of the accident was still investigated by the MMDA.
