Bolt Cutter gang member shot dead

MANILA, Philippines - A police chase from Tondo, Manila to Muntinlupa City left a Bolt Cutter gang member dead and two others arrested following a shootout at dawn yesterday.

Rodel dela Torre, 23, of Bigte, Norzagaray, Bulacan, was declared dead on arrival at the Pasig City General Hospital.

His companions, Silvio Ligas, 45, of Buntong Kamamanang, Cagayan de Oro, and Rodelio Santiago Lopez, 42, of Pier 2, Moriones, Tondo, surrendered to the police.

Recovered from the suspects were two caliber .38 revolvers and two caliber .22 pistols, according to Pasig police chief Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza.

Rariza said a witness saw the three suspects opening the door of the Cubea Internet Cafe along Pasig Boulevard, Extension in Barangay Caniogan using a bolt cutter.

The witness reported the robbery to PO3 Jake Salcedo and PO1 Fronzen Ismael, prompting them to rush to the area.
