UNA stalwarts support Erap rally today
MANILA, Philippines - United Nationalist Alliance leaders Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, as well as UNA’s nine senatorial candidates, are expected to attend the proclamation rally of former President Joseph Estrada, who is running for mayor of Manila.
The proclamation rally of Estrada, the official mayoral candidate of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) – which merged with Binay’s PDP-Laban to create UNA – will be held at the Liwasang Bonifacio at 4 p.m. today.
The UNA and PMP’s congressional and local candidates will also be present at the rally, organizers said.
Manila Police District spokesman Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo said district director Senior Senior Superintendent Alejandro Gutierrez ordered the rerouting of vehicular traffic and assigned counter-intelligence teams at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Lawton.
Margarejo said uniformed police officers will be deployed at strategic locations while an ambulance will be on standby starting at 1 p.m. He said all station commanders will be on alert to ensure the peaceful conduct of the proclamation rally.
