Woman finds stolen motorbike sold online

MANILA, Philippines - A woman recovered her motorcycle, stolen in February, after seeing it being advertised for sale online.

Cristina Solayao of Angono, Rizal went to the Quezon City Police District anti-car theft section Wednesday with Angono police officers and said her stolen motorcycle, a Yamaha Mio Sporty, was being advertised on the ayosdito.com.ph website, said Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, deputy director for administration of the QCPD.

Solayao had contacted the seller, Dennis Calimlim, and negotiated a transaction.

Chief Inspector Roderick Tonga said a team went to Calimlim’s residence in Barangay N.S. Amoranto, spotted the stolen motorcycle and arrested Calimlim. The suspect was turned over to the Angono municipal police, he said.

Only last week, Quezon City resident Borgy Marcelo reported that he found out his stolen Yamaha Mio Sporty motorcycle was being advertised for sale on the same website.

The alleged fence, Stephen Subido of Angono, was arrested during the arranged transaction. Subido pointed to his supplier, Moriel Boy Garzon of Pililia town, who was arrested during another operation. Garzon was said to have been seen in the surveillance footage taken of the area where Marcelo’s motorcycle was stolen.

Apart from Marcelo’s motorcycle, policemen also recovered four other motorcycles from Garzon.
