Trike driver kills landlord

MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver was arrested in Sampaloc, Manila Tuesday night after he killed a property caretaker for allegedly sexually harassing his 15-year-old daughter.

Alejandro Acuin, 45, admitted to stabbing 65-year-old Ernesto Rabasto, caretaker of a compound along Luzon Avenue, in a fight.

Acuin said he rented a shanty in the compound last January. He said he and Rabasto started feuding when his daughter told him the caretaker had reportedly been making sexual advances.

Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez said Rabasto learned that Acuin’s daughter had told her father about his advances and ordered the family to leave the compound.

At around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Benitez said the two men argued again while under the influence of liquor and engaged in a knife fight. Rabasto hit Acuin in the right arm, but the tricycle driver stabbed Rabasto thrice.
