Cop hurt in traffic mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A police officer responding to a case was seriously hurt when a motorcycle he was driving was hit by a car driven by a Korean in Mandaluyong City at past midnight yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Michael Arnaez was thrown 20 meters away after a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Woo Choon Suh, 49, hit his motorcycle.

Arnaez is being treated at the Victor Potenciano Medical Center for severe body injuries, police said.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen said Arnaez was deployed to a mall along Shaw Boulevard, where a fetus was allegedly found.

Quibuyen ordered the arrest of Woo and the filing of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and physical injury charges against him.
