Suspected drug pusher slain in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines - A suspected drug pusher was gunned down in a Muslim compound in Pasig City Monday.
Salek Magandia, alias Daddy, had been on the Eastern Police District’s watchlist of drug personalities, according to Superintendent Remus Medina, EPD intelligence chief.
Magandia’s murder could be related to a turf war among drug pushers in the city, Medina said.
A resident, Johan Sarosong, said he was walking in the Muslim compound in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at past 7 p.m. when he heard successive gunshots. When he rushed in the direction of the gunshots, he found Magandia on the pavement, bleeding. He and other neighbors rushed the victim to the Pasig City General Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Witnesses claimed the gunman was seen leaving the area after the gunshots rang out. Pasig police officers are searching for him.
Medina said Magandia had two pending cases for illegal possession of firearms before the Pasig City prosecutor’s office. He was out on bail.
