MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City council has authorized Mayor Herbert Bautista to purchase a 20,000-liter water tanker that will be used to provide potable water to evacuees during emergencies.
In a resolution, Councilor Eufemio Lagumbay said providing clean and potable water to people in evacuation centers must be done to prevent the outbreak of diseases like cholera and dysentery.
He added that the water tanker may also be used by the city’s fire department when it is not deployed at evacuation centers.
The city government currently owns two water tankers, assigned to the parks development and administration department for cleaning, landscaping and watering plants.
