Same gang robbed 3 cabbies in Caloocan?
MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City police is investigating if the same group robbed three taxi drivers this month, an official said yesterday.
Chief Inspector Bernabe Embile said the latest incident occurred in Barangay 73 at past midnight yesterday. He said two unidentified armed men robbed and hijacked the taxi (Toyota Corolla with plate number TWU-954) driven by Salvador Desales, 36.
The two men flagged down Desales’ taxi along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City and told him to drive them to 10th Avenue. Upon reaching Villarosa street, one of the men pulled out a bladed weapon and took Desales’ earnings of P3,400, an investigation showed.
Desales’ taxi has yet to be recovered.
On March 10, two unidentified men robbed taxi driver Novelito Glamayo of his two cellphones and his day’s earnings, amounting to P2,100.
Senior Inspector Enrique Torres said the men boarded the taxi along Aurora Boulevard at past 9 p.m. and asked Glamayo to take them to 7th Avenue. Upon reaching the corner of D. Aquino street and C-3 Road, the men robbed Glamayo at gunpoint and hijacked his taxi (a Toyota Vios with plate number UVE-329), which was later found abandoned in Balintawak, Quezon City.
On March 8, two robbers stole Roberto Orlina’s earnings and hijacked his taxi.
Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano said the robbers boarded along Timog Avenue in Quezon City and instructed Orlina to drive them to 10th Avenue. Upon reaching 7th Avenue, one of the men pointed a gun at him and took his earnings amounting to P1,200.
Soriano said the robbers escaped using the victim’s taxi (Toyota Vios with plate number UVN-880), which has yet to be recovered.
