Laborer ‘hammers’ co-worker over affair

MANILA, Philippines - A construction worker was beaten to death by his fellow employee in Ermita, Manila Thursday night after the victim found out his co-worker had been having an affair with his partner.

Rolando Ilago, 38, died of brain hemorrhage while undergoing treatment at the Ospital ng Maynila after Demmy Montes, 38, reportedly beat him with a hammer he used for work.   

Analyn Kabatinggan told police Ilago was her partner but she was also having an affair with Montes. She said the two were former friends and started feuding after Ilago learned she and Montes had been meeting in secret.

Kabatinggan said she wanted to end her relationship with Montes, but he was angry and vented his ire on Ilago.
