21 street children rounded up near NAIA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A team of law enforcers rounded up 21 street children in the vicinity of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport yesterday.

The children are reportedly led by an adult and target pedestrians and those riding in open vehicles, begging for money.

Salvador Peñaflor, Manila International Airport Authority assistant general manager, said the MIAA has been receiving complaints that these children “intimidate” the occupants of open vehicles into giving them money.

The street children were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. – Rudy Santos, Perseus Echeminada
