NAIA worker caught with laptop under shirt
MANILA, Philippines - A station loader at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was arrested Friday after a security guard reportedly caught him with a computer laptop hidden underneath his shirt.
Rommel Pedrena was about to leave the luggage buildup area when security guard Allan Albert stopped him so he could be frisked before leaving the area, according to Salvador Penaflor, assistant general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority.
Pedrena reportedly refused to be frisked, but Albert insisted, telling him that it was mandatory for every employee to be searched before leaving the area.
The guard found a laptop under Pedrena’s shirt, tucked in his waistband, and brought him to the office of the airport police.
Penaflor said Pedrena named Rodmar Maquiling as the one who took the laptop from a passenger’s bag and gave it to him. The two men are under investigation, he added.
