MMDA stops 3 MRT buses for using EDSA tunnel

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday apprehended three passenger buses of the Metro Rail Transit bus rapid system that were fielded to help decongest the number of passengers riding on the MRT 3 line every morning.

The MRT started fielding five buses yesterday to ferry MRT passengers from the North Avenue station directly to the Ayala Avenue and Taft Avenue stations from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

According to the MMDA, three of the five MRT buses were stopped  by its traffic enforcers after the buses passed through the P. Tuazon underpass along EDSA, which was not allowed.

According to the MMDA, it did not receive any notification from the MRT or from the Department of Transportation and Communication about the MRT bus scheme.
