MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested three alleged members of a West African drug syndicate and seized from them P5 million worth of shabu in a raid in Ermita, Manila Tuesday night.
Nabbed were John Nana Brown of Ghana and Indonesians Radityo Chusnul Fariz and and Fitri Wiji Utami.
The three were detained at the NBI headquarters in Manila.
They are facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The foreigners were arrested in a raid on their unit at Stonehouse Apartelle on Mabini street, Ermita at 11p.m.
Seized from them were 25 packs of shabu weighing 1.24 kilos, Ross Jonathan Galicia, chief of the NBI’s Reaction, Arrest and Interdiction Division, said.
“We received information from a source in Malaysia that there would be drug couriers arriving. We monitored the hotel where they stayed prior to their arrest,†Galicia said.
He said the illegal drugs would be brought to Malaysia.
