2 Chinese get life for P200-M high-grade shabu
MANILA, Philippines - Two Chinese nationals were sentenced to life in prison by a Caloocan City court for selling 40 kilos of high-grade shabu, which has a street value of P200 million, a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) official said yesterday.
Qinggou Nian, alias Ian Go and Tony Lim; and Dave Go, alias Jimmy Ong and Chen Yung Foo, who were arrested two years ago, were meted life imprisonment last month.
PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Judge Aurelio Ralar Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 120 also ordered Nian and Go to each pay P10 million in fines.
On Feb. 1, 2011, the two men were arrested by National Capital Region Police Office operatives in a drug bust that led to the confiscation of approximately 40 kilos of high-grade shabu.
Cacdac said the agency was pleased with the consecutive resolutions of drug cases against foreigners in favor of the government.
Recently, a 53-year-old Korean man was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling capsules of ecstasy.
“The favorable rulings of the court on drug cases greatly complement the efforts of law enforcement officers who risked their lives in arresting drug personalities,†he said. – Reinir Padua, Aie Balagtas See
