QCPD to deploy bus marshals this week
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Police District will deploy bus marshals all over the city to intensify the campaign against criminals staging heists in public utility buses, QCPD officials said yesterday.
QCPD director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said they will launch this week the re-deployment of bus marshals to thwart lawless elements from victimizing bus passengers.
The police officers will be deployed in buses passing major thoroughfares such as EDSA and Commonwealth Avenue, according to QCPD deputy director for administration Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao.
He said the police officers would get off the bus upon reaching the boundary of adjacent cities.
Pagdilao said the policemen to be deployed as marshals would get on the bus in tandem.
“They would randomly pick buses to ride along the road,†he said.
The police officials said the bus marshals would complement the number of policemen on patrol duty.
Police said the deployment of bus marshals will be a deterrent against robberies perpetrated by criminals posing as bus passengers.
