Teacher hangs self in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - A 29-year-old teacher who had previously tried to kill herself committed suicide in Caloocan City Friday.

Rosita Cortez was found by her husband, Alex, hanging inside their home in Barangay Barrio at 10:45 a.m. A pantyhose was looped around her neck, according to Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano.

Initial investigation showed that the couple had an argument prior to the suicide.

Alex told investigators he was in his office in Pasig City at about 8 a.m. when he received a text message from his wife, saying she would kill herself.

The text message forced Alex to immediately go back to their house. He was shocked when he saw her hanging. 

He rushed his wife to the MCU Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Soriano said the husband claimed that the victim previously attempted to kill herself several times.
