MANILA, Philippines - A dance instructor (DI) was arrested in Quezon City Tuesday night after he allegedly tried to extort P750,000 from a businesswoman in exchange for his silence on their supposed sexual escapades.
Reno Terez, 43, a resident of North Fairview, was nabbed in an entrapment after the 66-year-old widow sought police help, according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano.
The suspect was caught at 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Upperton street and Commonwealth Avenue in North Fairview by operatives of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
Terez will be slapped with robbery and extortion charges, Albano said.
The suspect reportedly told the businesswoman that he would not tell anybody about their affair if she would give him P750,000. The amount was later reduced to P250,000.
Terez had been the complainant’s dance instructor for three years, police said.
Inspector Allan dela Cruz said the complainant even paid for Terez’s bail money last year when he was arrested for trying to extort from another woman.
Fed up, the businesswoman decided not to meet with Terez anymore and hired another dance instructor.
On Monday, Terez sent a text message to the woman to pick up the letter he left at the windshield of her Mitsubishi Pajero that was parked outside her house. When she opened the letter, she found out that it contained accounts of her sexual relationship with Terez.
