Bus passenger foils alleged thief

MANILA, Philippines - A passenger on a Malanday-bound bus foiled a suspected thief and had him arrested in Valenzuela Saturday morning.

Joecel Asanza, 27, said she knew that Ramil del Rosario, 38, reportedly slashed her pants pocket to get her BlackBerry phone worth P11,000 while they were in a Malanday Transit bus, Police Officer 3 Roberto Santillan said.

Instead of creating a commotion, Asanza waited until she saw a police car along M.H. del Pilar street. She asked the bus driver to drop her off, then complained to the police officers.

The lawmen arrested Del Rosario when he got off the bus and recovered Asanza’s cell phone, Santillan said.
