MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was arrested for allegedly poking his gun at a motorist during a traffic altercation in Quezon City yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Joven Janairo Jr., of the Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame, allegedly poked his gun at a motorcycle rider at the EDSA Kamuning flyover in Barangay Kamuning, said Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano.

Janairo is facing a complaint for violation of the Omnibus Election Code. He was in civilian clothes when the incident happened.

The motorist said the policeman got irked after their motorcycles sideswiped each other while traversing the flyover at 8 a.m.

Janairo then drew his service firearm – a 9mm Pietro Beretta – and pointed it at the victim, according to QCPD deputy director for administration Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao.

The suspect was arrested by officers from the QCPD Station 10 under Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo.

Meanwhile, QCPD-Station 4 commander Superintendent Crisostomo Mendoza said security guard Teddy Quartero, a resident of Novaliches, also  in Quezon City, was nabbed for violation of the gun ban.

Quartero’s arrest stemmed from the complaint of his fellow guard Baltazar Fortaleza.
