MANILA, Philippines - A 50-year-old man died as he saved his younger brother from an unidentified gunman in Caloocan City yesterday morning.
Reynaldo Ocampo of Talipapa GSIS Hills Subdivision was hit in the chest and stomach as he stopped the shooter from attacking his brother, Jerry, 42.
Jerry was riding a motorcycle at about 8 a.m. when two men on a Blue Honda XRM motorcycle hit him on the head and shot him twice in the back.
“Jerry was able to run back to his house (which is about 50 meters away from the crime site). He was already inside their compound but the gunman chased him,†said Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, head investigator of the Caloocan police.
Reynaldo saw his brother and ran toward the gunman. Instead of shooting Jerry, the gunman turned his attention to Reynaldo, shot him twice, and left.
Police said the gunman was tall, thin, and had a mole near his upper lip. He wore a green shirt and a white cap.
