MANILA, Philippines - A buko (young coconut) vendor died after a co-worker shot and hacked him in Tondo, Manila Thursday night.
Lolito Tarrayo, 51, was talking with Virgilio Bermejo in front of his stall along Lakandula street when Jimmy Bombani reportedly shot him six times at past 8 p.m.
Police said Tarrayo tried to run away but Bombani, upon passing another buko stall, grabbed a bolo and hacked him to death.
The suspect reportedly bore a grudge against Tarrayo and had been looking for a chance to settle the issue, according to Senior Inspector Ismael dela Cruz, chief of the Manila Police District’s crimes against persons unit.
