Pasay judge to rule on Abalos Taiwan trip

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Pasay City regional trial court (RTC) has submitted for a resolution a new motion by former Commission on Elections chairman Benjamin Abalos asking the court to allow him to travel to Taiwan from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1 to buy bangus (milkfish) fingerlings.

Judge Jesus Mupas will decide soon on Abalos’ petition, according to the judge’s spokesperson, Felda Domingo.

Mupas and Judge Eugenio dela Cruz earlier permitted Abalos to travel to Taiwan on Nov. 27, 2012 but he failed to leave because of an invalid passport.

Abalos is facing several electoral sabotage charges for alleged irregularities in the election results in North and South Cotabato before the two judges.
