MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at a storage room of the Kalayaan College in Quezon City Saturday afternoon.
City fire marshall Senior Superintendent Bobby Baruello said they are still investigating the cause of the fire, which started in a storage room at the ground floor at around 4:30 p.m.
The blaze reached fourth alarm before it was put out about an hour later. No one was reported killed or injured in the blaze, but investigators estimated the damage to property at P2 million.
A representative of the college told The STAR that the fire affected the storage room owned by the landlord and not the main building of the college.
No announcement was made regarding the effect of the blaze on the scheduled resumption of classes on Jan. 3.
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Authority said the nearby Betty Go-Belmonte station of the LRT Line 2 was not affected by the fire.
