Truck crushes boy in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - A 10-year-old boy died after he was run over by an 18-wheeler truck in Tondo, Manila Wednesday.

John Vincent Jimwell Dar was crossing the intersection of Nicolas Zamora and Moriones streets at around noon when he was hit and crushed by the trailer truck, driven by Ricardo Inocencio, 42. The truck was bound for Port Area, according to Police Officer 2 Roberto Lorenzo of the Manila Traffic Bureau.

Dar died on the spot from multiple fractures and a broken skull.

Lorenzo said Inocencio, whose truck was seized by authorities, surrendered to the police and was turned over to the Manila Traffic Bureau, where he is being held.

Inocencio faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, he said.
