Cop accused of robbing teen at MPD station

MANILA, Philippines - A teenager filed robbery charges against a policeman yesterday morning for allegedly bringing him to the rooftop of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 9 and taking his P200 and a silver necklace.

Clinton Severa, 17, said he accused Police Officer 1 Reggie Dominguez of trying to extort money from him so he would not be charged for his alleged involvement in a fight with a taxi driver in front of the Harrison Plaza mall.

Severa said he came from a Christmas party and was on his way home when he had an altercation with the cabbie. He said he ran toward the mall where the guards, instead of helping him, reportedly beat him and called MPD Station 9. It was at the police station where the alleged extortion attempt and the robbery happened, he said.

Senior Police Officer 1 James Poso said Dominguez should explain what he was doing at the police station because he is reportedly assigned to the MPD’s District Headquarters Support Unit.
