MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega has ordered an intensified campaign against “narco-politicians,” private armies and wanted personalities in the run-up to the 2013 elections.
Dela Vega directed his 12 station commanders to conduct “focused police operations.”
Other heads of offices, including the District Public Safety Battalion, Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and the District Anti-Carnapping Unit were also given the directive.
QCPD deputy director for operations Senior Superintendent Neri Ilagan said each police units should implement one focused police operations every week against guns-for-hire, loose firearms and conduct checkpoint and chokepoint to thwart motorcycle-riding criminals.
The police official underscored the need to stamp out “narco-politics,” particularly the conduct of operations against illegal drugs at the barangay level.
