MANILA, Philippines - A trucking firm helper was found dead, crushed under a forklift, at the firm’s compound in Tondo, Manila Sunday morning.
Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez said Christopher Jacildo, 37, was last seen alive the night before, drinking with his co-workers at TFO Trucking. The victim’s cousin, Raymundo Tupas, a driver of the firm, said Jacildo left the group sometime before 4 a.m. and was never seen since.
Benitez said it is possible that the victim fell asleep near the forklift and somebody accidentally started its engine without knowing that there was a person underneath.
However, he said nothing is conclusive at this point because of the position of the victim when he was found – lying face down perpendicular to the wheel.
