Retired cop killed in own house

MANILA, Philippines - A retired policeman was shot dead by heavily armed men who barged into his house in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City Sunday night.

Constancio Pitagan, 62, who held the rank of Senior Police Officer 4, died on the spot,  Inspector Elmer Monsalve, head of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said.

Monsalve said they are looking into the possibility that the victim was killed because of his previous work. The victim was once an anti-drug operative of the QCPD Station 6.

Around six men on three motorcycles were said to be involved in the killing.

Pitagan’s killers smashed the front window of the house,  barged in and shot him as he got his gun from his bedroom, police said.
