Businessman loses P.3 M to robbers

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Robbers tricked a businessman into thinking that his tire had a problem, forcing him to stop his car in the middle of the road and giving the suspects the chance to rob him Tuesday in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City.

Richard Gallena, 32, told police that he lost P300,000 cash and two phones to the robbers.

A report from the Quezon City Police District said the robbery was staged by four unidentified men. Police said Gallena was driving his Toyota Fortuner (TNQ 585) along Scout Limbaga when two of the suspects on a motorcycle shouted “Yung gulong. (Your tire).”

As soon as the businessman stopped, one of the suspects got off the motorcycle and poked a gun at Gallena’s companion, Charlie Lutas. Two more men arrived on a motorcycle and declared a heist.
