MANILA, Philippines - A 68-year-old lotto collector allegedly killed a taxi driver who refused to pay his bet in Pandacan, Manila yesterday.
Aurelio La Madrid surrendered to barangay chairman Edmundo Tojon after killing Francisco Adina, 59, of 1970 Obesis street in Pandacan.
Police Officer 1 Anthony Boncan said the suspect and the victim, who was a regular lotto bettor, had a spat Tuesday afternoon after the latter refused to pay his bet.
“He (Adina) did not only refuse to pay but he also shouted at me and told me that he has already paid,” La Madrid told investigators.
Irked, the suspect planned to kill the victim, according to police.
Boncan said La Madrid waited for Adina while fetching water in the neighborhood and without any provocation stabbed him in the neck.
“I stabbed him once but I made sure he will die,” the suspect told reporters.
