BOC seizes 20 rifle barrels sent through mail

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel seized 20 barrels of M-14 rifles, declared as chocolates and books, which arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City Thursday.

BOC District 3 commander Marlon Alameda said the rifle barrels – which sell for around P30,000 each in the Philippines – came in small boxes sent from Orlando, Florida.

He said the bureau identified the consignee as Jaydi Miranda, 42, of San Miguel, Bulacan. Miranda told them she did not know the actual contents and that the shipper, Jovit Cruz, was only introduced to her through a friend.
