MANILA, Philippines - A Malabon City barangay chairman’s son was arrested after allegedly robbing a student in Caloocan City Wednesday night.
Eleazar Umbas, 31, yielded a knife and a cell phone he and a companion reportedly stole at knifepoint from student Angel Cruz, 17, as she and a friend were waiting for a ride home from school along Bautista street in Barangay 80, Caloocan at around 9 p.m., Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, Caloocan City police investigation chief, said.
A police patrol team noticed the robbery and arrested Umbas, a son of Barangay Tonsuya chairman Pol Umbas. His companion escaped, police said.
