LTO project winner vows to improve system
MANILA, Philippines - An Indian firm, part of a consortium that won the bidding for the Land Transportation Office (LTO) road transportation information technology infrastructure system, vowed yesterday to revolutionize it to meet the government’s current and future needs.
Trimax IT Infrastructure and Services Ltd., in a statement, said it has partnered with Filipino-owned firms Digitext Asia Corp. and New Tech Media Solutions and Trading Corp. in a joint venture known as Digitext ET AL.
Last Nov. 27, the Department of Transportation and Communication announced that it selected the Digitext Asia’s consortium as the winning bidder for the P8.2-billion LTO project.
The consortium put up a bid of P3.8 billion, the lowest bid among five bidders.
Trimax chairman Surya Prakash Madrecha said he sees the joint venture as a way to support President Aquino in promoting good governance and provide tangible benefits to Filipinos.
Madrecha said he was delighted by the government’s willingness to enter into partnerships with foreign companies.
“With Trimax in the Philippines, the information and communications technology industry will be more competitive in terms of economic contribution, creating more jobs, and paving the way for Philippines to be a leader in ICT,” Madrecha said.
Madrecha assured that the new LTO system will be implemented after thorough consultation with stakeholders and with the future technology requirements of the country in mind.
Trimax is a $156.8-million enterprise headquartered in Mumbai. Its clients include governments and firms from industries like banking, financial services, insurance and transport.
